29 Days to go! 2021/2022 BMSB Season – Be Prepared!

In preparation, please make sure your suppliers are aware of the new 2021/22 Brown Marmorated Stink Bug season requirements which have been published on the Department of Agriculture, Water & the Environment website. https://www.agriculture.gov.au/import/before/brown-marmorated-stink-bugs For the 2021-22 BMSB risk season, measures will apply to: certain goods manufactured in, or shipped from target risk countries, and/or vessels that berth at, load or tranship from target risk countries The measures apply to goods that have been shipped between: 1 September 2021 and 30 April 2020 (inclusive) Target high risk goods shipped between 1 September 2021 and April 2022 (inclusive) require mandatory treatment. Important Reminder: Break Bulk / Open Top / Flat Rack containers require mandatory offshore treatment. Onshore treatment upon arrival is NOT PERMITTED. Untreated consignments arriving will not be discharged from the vessel and will be directed for re-export, all costs to the importer. In addition to the 37 target risk countries from the previous season, this season Poland has been identified and added to the target risk country list. Emerging risk countries for the 2021-22 BMSB risk season include Belarus, Malta, Sweden, United Kingdom & Chile. Please ensure your suppliers and agents are aware of the BMSB requirements, especially in regard to packing / packaging, and the preference for goods to be treated offshore. This may assist to avoid any unnecessary delays / financial impacts during the upcoming season.
